I encourage you to take a few minutes and look around my site…explore all the options you have for therapy and the various avenues of life we can work on together.
Fundamentally, I have been a therapist for longer than I can remember. I see things differently than a lot of people. I am not quick to judge, but instead am quick to want more information, I am curious by nature, I want big picture. No one lives in a vacuum, life is not made up of single isolated incidents; everything fits together somehow. I want to help you to explore the objective reality, understand the subjective and make the connections needed in order to make some real change; The kind of change that really makes life look different, not the kind of change that looks like a New Year’s resolution: really apparent for 3 whole days and then disappears. Everyone wants better, we want overall satisfaction in life, we want big picture contentment. That’s what I want for you and I’ve got the skill and the know how to help you get there.
I’m a “meet you where you are at” therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help you effectively address personal life challenges. I often hear that therapy with me is very different from therapy with others, I believe that is because I want to understand where you are, how you feel, and experience your experiences with you, all while still being able to be that strong and stable confidant you want. If you want to get places, I want to help you. With compassion, understanding, and empathy I will work with you to help you recognize and build upon your strengths so that you can change life in the way you want.
When you come into the office, it’s more of a meet and greet. In order to be genuine and real we need to feel comfortable and known, and that takes a bit of time. I want to learn about you and what’s going on in your life that makes it feel hard. You’re the expert on you, the better the understanding I have about you, the more equipped I am to help you.
I come from a place of curiosity. I’ll bring attention to what’s in the room with us so we can explore it and peel back the layers. I don’t press any judgement; I don’t secretly laugh at you or ever think that something you tell me isn’t a big deal. If something is hard for you, that’s what I care about and am interested in helping you make the hard things feel not so hard anymore. You get to be you and that is always enough.
“I am beyond grateful to have found someone who has brought so much positive change to my life. When I first came to Gretchen I was struggling, feeling helpless and lost about who I was and what I wanted. Through her therapeutic approach I instantly found the comfort and support I yearned for. She is incredibly insightful and has helped me better understand myself. Before coming to her I saw my emotional sensitivity as huge difficulty in my life, causing me discomfort and frustration. Gretchen has taught me tools to use my sensitivity in positive ways. Every time I walk out of her office I feel lighter and stronger, with a new and profound confidence to make it through my daily life. She is relatable, trustworthy and easy to talk to. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a genuine, trustworthy, professional, and gifted therapist to help navigate through life’s challenges.”

“Gretchen is a remarkably insightful therapist. She works fiercely on your behalf to be able to get in touch with your own feelings and to face the past, present, and future. She is very intuitive; when you enter her office, its hip, welcoming, and inviting, she will sense some of the emotions you are bringing with you, but she is very loyal and ethical and you’ll feel that your secrets are safe with her because they are. Through empathy and encouragement she will guide you to discover for yourself how to best shape your life. She will help you set doable goals for yourself that will help bring about change. She will sometimes highlight and pick up on facts that might be hard to hear but she is there to help you work through them because they are necessary to move forward and to make room for change.”

“We have been seeing Gretchen now for almost 2yrs. She’s has been/is wonderful in helping us sort things out and clarify things. We go as a couple and we also go individually, she has helped us with our marriage, family and work issues. Everyone needs a “Gretchen” in their lives! I would recommend everyone have a therapist before issues arise, it makes things easier to get back on the right track before everything spirals out of control. Gretchen helps and guides us to make your own decisions for a healthier, happier and more manageable life. And last but not least… we are still married thanks to Gretchen’s help, actually we are now Happily Married, not just married! 🙂 Thanks Gretchen for helping us find the fun in life again!”
